I am not a big bicyclist. Just prefer to run. But when I was riding I joined Eastside Velo (ESV).
It's a local bicycling group that organizes rides, in the Eastern Sierra, throughout the riding season which is April - October.
The average ride attendance is between 30-60 riders per event. Supported rides feature "feed" stations about every 25 miles, highway signage, repair assistance and often a rolling SAG vehicle for repair/rescue. At the conclusion of many rides there is a hosted lunch, or alternatively riders will meet a venue such as the Whoa Nellie Deli, establishments in June Lake, Mammoth or Bishop.

ESV members range in ability from novice to expert and most supported rides are "out and back", so the distance traveled can be up to the rider.
When I was riding, I did a couple of the supported rides and they were a lot of fun as were the after ride lunches. It was a lot of fun making new friends and getting reacquainted with old friends.
So, if you're traveling up here or already live here and want to get out and do some rides, log onto the ESV website for more information.
