Animal Control Is OUR Responsibility!

I live in Mono County, Ca.. The land area is approximately 3,030 square miles, 80% of which is federally owned. Much of the land is contained in the Inyo and Toiyabe National Forests. The land is rough, mountainous and spectacular.

The Town I live in is Mammoth Lakes. Tiny place! About 4 square miles with a year round population approaching 8,000 people. And many of the locals have dogs and cats.
For the most part, the local pups are well tempered, friendly and easy going. Most seem to have been adopted from the local animal shelters.

In Mono County there are two animal shelters. Bridgeport Animal Shelter is on Jack Sawyer Road just South of town. Open Sun, Mon, Wed, Thurs: 8:30 to 10:30. Tues, Fri and Sat.: 8to 4:30. Phone: 760-932-7407
Whitmore Animal Shelter is located on Benton Crossing Road adjacent to the softball diamonds. Open Tues-Sat: 10:30 to 4:30. Phone: 760-935-4734.
The local shelters are dedicated to protecting people from animals and animals from people. If you’re thinking of getting a pet, please consider adopting a dog or cat from one of these shelters. Additionally, please consider supporting these shelters by making a donation. Your funds will go a long way in assisting with the care of the animals.
Mono County is a rural location and the average income is lower than most other counties in California. With the State/County budget trimming, funds are exceedingly tight. Now more than ever our donations can have a positive impact on those who need our help.
So please remember The Animal Control Motto: “Treat everyone that we meet as we wish to be treated-treat every animal as if it were our own.”
