Mammoth Mountain Ski Area Breaks 600" Mark For The Season

Today's Report Updated at 10am on 3/27/2011 In the last 24hrs Mammoth received 13-21.5 inches of snow covering the mountain! More fresh tracks are to be had this morning under bluebird skies! I would take every advantage of the powder as it looks like sun is in the forecast this upcoming week. We have hit 600 inches of snowfall for the season and conditions couldn’t be more incredible! Mammoth’s snow base depth is 17 feet to 27 feet and will ensure a long lasting spring. A small bit of snow is expected tonight. Mammoth’s conditions are powder, packed powder and machine groomed. The 10am temp at Main Lodge is 27 degrees with 17 mph winds, at the top it’s 20 degrees with 57 mph winds. The following lifts are currently on weather hold, the Upper Panorama Gondola, Chairs 3, 5, 9, 12, 13, 14, 22 and 23. All other lifts are operating today, wind and weather permitting, except for Chair 20. Text the word “lifts” to 20123 to get the most up-to-date status of each lift. It is only days away! The MVP pass program is now open to everyone at our lowest 2011-2012 season pass price for $659. Pass sales begin April 1 and you can start using your pass May 1, 2011 to enjoy all of this epic snow! Right now, it's dumping. As I'm writing this, about 3" of snow has settled on the branch tops of the trees outside my office window in a short period of time.No wind, little snowflakes, fresh, light AND IT'S MARCH. Or should I say Marchuary!

Mammoth Mountain received over 100" of fresh snow in a three day period, bringing the total "dumpage" for the year to more than 534" or 44.5ft.

Today there is a Winter storm warning. The high is forecast to be near 19. Windy, with a Southwest around 30mph, with gusts as high as 45mph. Snow accumulation of 12-18" possible.

Tonight, more snow. Low around 12, windy with a Southwest wind around 30mph. Snow accumulation of 9-13"

More snow forecast, day & evening, into Saturday March 26th.

More Snow In Mammoth For US Snowboarding Grand Prix

More Snow In Mammoth, Just In Time For The U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix

Last week, we had approximately four feet of fresh powder fall. Temperatures were very cool so it stayed fresh and light through the week.

Over the past 24 hours or so, we've had another six inches or so in Town. Probably a foot on the mountain, if not more.

As of March 3rd, we've had more than 36feet of snow and you know as well as I do that more is on the way to make for an outstanding Spring on the mountain and in the back country.

If your in need of a few days off and a big dose of fresh powder, you can fly to Mammoth directly from Los Angeles and San Jose. View the flight schedule.

The 2011 Sprint US Snowboarding Grand Prix will take place at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area from March 3-5, 2011. This is the 15th season!

Riders will tackle the half pipe on Saturday, March 5th and then onto the Unbound Terrain Park in the final Paul Mitchell Progression Session of the season. 2011 Sprint US Snowboarding Grand Prix event link.
